BIKÔKÔ represents a new way of understanding contemporary songwriting: intimate, sophisticated and emotionally direct. With honest, visceral writing, her music combines delicate melodies, elegant piano lines and a deeply personal sensitivity. After collaborating with artists such as Hudson Mohawke and Sega Bodega, she now enters a new phase more focused on voice, songcraft and a classically shaped expressiveness. A project that looks inward without losing its sonic ambition.
We would all like to be BIKÔKÔ, wouldn't we? I think so, and there's nothing wrong with admitting it. She is one of those people who seem to have been born with everything. She has a delicate yet magnetic voice. She has style, talent, the face of an angel, and she can play the piano too! See? She really has it all. In fact, could it be that she fell from heaven? I ask myself that every time I open her Instagram. And that's quite often, because I think she ranks in my top three saved outfits and style inspirations.
BIKÔKÔ is Catalan and blends R&B, soul, and accessible melodies, expressing all of her roots through her songs. Although she now lives in London, we'll keep praying that one day she returns to us. In fact, one of my favourite songs is "Força", in which she sings in Catalan and shares the track with Irene Garry and Amore — surely the best love triangle you could ever wish to be part of. And now that I think about it, she also has another song called "Jealousy", and she has explained on occasion that she wrote it because, for a long time, she felt guilty about experiencing that emotion. And I wonder... will she allow us to feel a little of it towards her? I certainly hope so!
