Amaro Freitas & Momi Maiga bring together two singular voices from the international music scene. It is the band of Amaro Freitas, a pianist from Recife and one of the most innovative figures in contemporary jazz, and Momi Maiga, a Senegalese musician based in Catalonia and a renowned kora virtuoso. Together, they create a unique musical dialogue that intertwines Afro-Brazilian jazz with West African traditions and Mediterranean music. Piano, kora, percussion, and voices come together on stage in a sonic journey full of memory, roots, and freedom.

AMARO FREITAS is a Brazilian jazz pianist. Born in a favela, he learned to play as a child in church, taught by his father. Later on, he earned a scholarship to study at a conservatory. He is one of those musicians who seem to have been born with melody inside them and magic at their fingertips. He makes the difficult look effortless and, when you see him perform live, it feels as though he is back in his teenage bedroom discovering a new hobby, and we, the audience, have somehow snuck in to watch.
When you listen to MOMI MAIGA, you get the feeling that you are hearing something entirely new. Originally from Senegal, and blending traditional African sounds with more contemporary influences such as jazz and classical music, his work transports you to unfamiliar worlds and gives you the sensation of floating, or of being inside a film in which you are the main character.
