Clara Mann crafts deeply emotional songwriting, shaped by delicate and profoundly evocative writing. On her debut album Rift, she moves through the in-between spaces between light and darkness, growth and remorse, loss and reclamation. Influenced by artists such as Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Judee Sill and Tom Waits, Mann approaches songwriting with care, intensity and hope. An intimate project that finds beauty even in the cracks.

You can start the day by having a black coffee for breakfast (just like you saw on Tumblr), which you will find disgusting because you haven't yet developed a tolerance for bitter flavours. Then, doodle in a notebook while listening to Bob Dylan and Édith Piaf. Think about past eras you never lived through but somehow miss. Write a letter to your future self. Cut your bangs with the kitchen scissors just to upset your mother. Realise that you can be superficial and unbearably brooding at the same time: opposites can both be true because the world allows for complexity, and you are part of it. Hold on tightly to that revelation. One day, when you are almost thirty, the boy you're making out with will explain it to you as though it were quantum physics. Thanks to all these steps, you will manage to undergo a kind of psychological regression to your teenage self: the most dramatic, introspective, and utterly unbearable version of you. And you will feel more deeply the embrace of British artist CLARA MANN's contemporary, minimalist folk music.
