LA PUBLICITAT
La Publicitat is a Barcelona-based rock band formed in 2025 by Víctor Jiménez, Marc Gelabert, Pol Guardiola and Bru Esteve. The band’s name shapes a project defined by irony and narrative. Its origins lie in Bru Esteve’s bedroom, where the first long and humorous lyrics began to take shape. With the gradual addition of the other members, these ideas are transformed into songs. They debut with Tornem de seguida, an EP that plays with the very concept of communication and its power of influence.
I do not understand the slightest thing about music, and I am incapable of turning my back on tradition. They are Kafka’s two flaws… Grave, congenital flaws that condemn one to a monomaniacal and somewhat ridiculous state in which the world returns only as language.
And, to make matters worse, I love music. What do I listen to? Only songs that fit my foot perfectly, songs that ache for my foot as well. Songs made by people hyper-fixated on the systole and diastole of language, who manage to make poetry emerge from the act of strumming a guitar—not by dissolving one into the other, but by letting both glide alongside each other. I like LA PUBLICITAT precisely for that reason: because its members know exactly what they are doing when they string words together, they know exactly what world and what tradition they are invoking, and they do so with an ironic nostalgia and a self-possession that I recognize as my own.
